Hello, my name is Yasmin. I’m almost twenty years old, I have Asian roots, and I grew up in an American city — in a place that was loud, fast and full of contradictions. Maybe that is where my need to understand things comes from. I study biochemistry, I love science, and I can easily lose myself in thoughts, formulas and connections. My weapon is not volume. My weapon is my mind.

On Fehmarn, however, I learned that not everything in life needs to be analyzed. Sometimes all it takes is wind in your hair, a camera, a quiet moment by the sea — or Lisa-Marie, who simply starts talking, laughing and feeling before I have even finished sorting out a single thought. Through her, I understood that I do not only have to observe. I am allowed to be visible. I am allowed to be meant. And maybe that is exactly why I write here: to preserve what happens when mind and heart suddenly begin to speak the same language.
